I'm not too big on DC, but my drawing instructor Phil Jimenez tells me a lot about what it's like since he's a comic book artist hired by them. Have you ever wondered what it's like to receive a REAL critique? Well I got that experience and it was worth it. He's gave me one of the toughest, honest, constructive, and most human art critiques I've ever received in my life.
Yeah, it was hard, but it was also an honor. As being apart of the industry, every class he always lectures what need to go for. It's good advice from someone who's out there and it pushes our class. It should also push you as well since I'm sharing the information. You don't get this type of look at your work...especially from a unique legend like Phil. I thought I'd share this because I want all of you who are reading this to push yourself and bypass your strengths. Get your shit out there and draw as hard and best you can!
Now let's get back on topic: I want to admit that this image was suppose to have been launched for new years, but unfortunately, I delayed until later because January was the month. And NO sooner did it happen that BroNYCon was seven days away. Let alone this was the time when people were pretty much hinting to me to produce more story-telling illustrations, which I got autographed at BroNYCon.
Sometimes things occur for a reason. I'm glad I saved this image for a later time because now we all can gaze on how heavenly she looks as a show girl magician. (that's my baby):D Well, maybe I BELIEVE she looks heavenly. Some may not agree with me, but you have a right to disagree. And of course we cant forget about her Pokemon companion Espeon: who she loves dearly.
Carol's RAWKIN' boobs!
As we seen Zatanna before, her breasts aren't big at all. When Carol wears this outfit, notice how tight it is. Not only does it work on her but it makes her look a bit voluptuous. In addition, I did not want to include thigh-highs or fishnets because that subtracts the appeal from it. Her top was cut, and the bow Zatanna has around her neck is replaced with a jewel bracelet. Open heels can raise the level of appeal if they are executed well. The pose I constructed on my own. The only part I needed reference on was Zatanna.
I pulled up a large of Zatanna amount images on Google just to get an idea of what I wanted. Studying her design and erasing things that wouldn't work. This is the second time her legs are exposed to the audience in such a majestic manor. The idea of portraying her with energy emitting from her body while she steps out of the panel is to show her cute but dangerous exterior. After all, the kid's a saiyan! The final element that I had to include was her so called "cutie mark" she received.
COME ON PEOPLE! DID YOU NOT READ THE SEGMENT? CAROL GAINS A CUTIE MARK!:D
I'm glad I saved this image for last. Although, I'm not too big a fan of DC I'm pretty much throwing some sort of shout-out or tribute to a very iconic character. When you see this, you instantly think of Zatanna. Her outfit is iconic among the comic book world.
In conclusion, I hope you all take what I said earlier and apply the inspiration to your artwork. Do as best as you can with whatever your working with. Pull out amazing shit and make sure it's good! Don't let anyone stop you from what you enjoy doing and don't forget to try new things as well.:D
With that said, I'm off. I'm leaving my campus and relocating to Nintendo World!
